The Huddle: NCAA Week 3/NFL Week 2

- Check out why the Illini's season hangs in the balance over the course of the next three weeks here in the College section.

- I argue that all (possible) touchdowns are not created equal in the NFL in Week 2.

- After starting last season with 12 consecutive wins, the Ball State Cardinals have now dropped 5 consecutive games, dating back to the MAC Championship last year. With three losses this season to North Texas Mean Green (preseason #1 ranked ESPN Bottom 10 team), New Hampshire Wildcats (Football Subdivision, formerly Division 1-AA), and Army Black Knights, they look poised to take over the #1 spot in the Bottom 10. Such a descent would mean that both my undergraduate and graduate school would have graced that coveted spot.

- Michigan's ascension to the Top 25 following last week's victory over Notre Dame just proves the absurdity of rankings so early in the season. Notre Dame was ranked based on potential, not results, and Michigan's last second victory does not make them Top 25 caliber. Sure things are turning around, but lets not jump to the absurd.
